Student Technology Help
Student Chromebooks
All GCPS students have a Chromebook assigned to them for academic use for the school year. This is called the one-to-one program, or 1:1. Families can also check out a hotspot for Internet access based on demonstrated need if Internet service is not available at home. If your family needs a hotspot, please contact our Family Engagement Center (Parent Center).
When a GCPS technology resource is assigned to a student and taken home, it is the family’s responsibility to monitor the use of the device to ensure the student is following the Student Conduct Behavior Code and to ensure that the device is returned in the condition in which it was received. For more information about expectations and fines, please review the GCPS device care and expectations and the BMS Chromebook Damage Notice with your scholar(s).
GCPS will assess fines for lost and/or damaged Chromebooks and chargers. Please note that incidents of damage or loss do not reset each school year, and unpaid fines are still due when a new school year begins, even if the student transfers to another GCPS school. Fines incurred may prevent student participation in certain school events. The district fine chart is included in the links below and on the damage notice page.
